Traveling With Your Pets
Travel Tips:
- Give yourself plenty of time to plan. The less time you have, the more difficult it is to plan a trip that includes your pet.
- Considering each pet has his/her own special diet or food preference we do not provide pet food. Here is a tip: Take a large baggie or plastic container. Consider how many days you will be traveling and measure the appropriate amount of food plus a couple of extra meals for good measure. I do this and it works great!
- If you're traveling in your car, try to give the pet a vantage point that allows it to look out the window.
- When you get to the inn, bring your pet inside first (even before luggage). Doing so can help reduce any anxiety the pet may be feeling. Bringing your pets favorite toy and bedding can go a long way in reducing anxiety.
- Although seeing-eye dogs fit into a special category, we still need to be notified in advance so we can make appropriate preparations.
- If this is the first time you'll be bringing your pet on a vacation, be sure to plan on spending lots of time with it. This can be a very stressful experience for some pets. It can also be very rewarding as our pets are part of the family. When you consider the cost of kennel stays and the risk of illness, traveling with your pet is cost effective and with proper planning can be fun.
